Field Service Technician

The Field Service Technician reports to Solutions Engineer and is responsible for the installation, testing, and servicing of Nikola Labs Predictive Factory Maintenance solutions at client sites based on defined specifications. The role also supports the Solutions Engineer in planning and creating Solution Designs to deliver an industry-leading customer experience.


  • Develops a deep knowledge of company products and overall analysis experience to capture, understand and define product design requirements in client environment
  • Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to install Predictive Factory Maintenance product solutions onto and within client manufacturing equipment based on the specifications of the client Solution Design
  • Ensures that all PfM product solutions are properly installed and tested to the Solution Design, and product communications with client networks are established and verified
  • Provide remote technical support for the industrial and manufacturing customer installed base to ensure complete customer satisfaction
  • Provide on-site technical support to help troubleshoot and repair product solutions when problems are identified
  • Communicate and maintain installation and field service records and documentation as defined by process
  • Manage and maintain service tools and installation parts inventory to ensure accurate inventory of assigned company assets 
  • Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner and consistently represents the company image and brand in a positive and professional manner. Communicates and interacts well with all customer personnel to gain their confidence and cooperation
  • Support product development team in evaluation and testing of existing and new product development


The ideal Field Service Technician at Nikola Labs will have the following qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Electronics/Electrical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology; or Military equivalence; or, an Associate degree with 3-5 years’ field service experience
  • 1-3 years of comparable experience in the field service industry desired 
  • Experience with welding tools, hand tools, air tools and large specialized tools specific to the job/project
  • General knowledge of industrial electronic systems including enclosures, cabinets, chassis, electrical connectors, cabling, and mounting hardware
  • Ability to read and review mechanical drawings for proper dimensioning tolerances and accuracy and completeness 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design schematics
  • Familiarity with industrial networking equipment and protocols
  • Familiarity with vibration analysis and environmental test including vibration and shock
  • Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance, commissioning new systems and repair of associated equipment
  • Require OSHA 10, prefer OSHA 30 certification - can be educated upon hiring


  • Physical ability to work in confined industrial environments, wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including protective glasses, protective gloves, and protective clothing and footwear
  • Work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Requires professional appearance, good communication skills and professional conduct
  • Demonstrate the desire and knowledge to understand and solve for customer needs
  • Provide personalized, professional and courteous service, accurate information, continuous communication, and the ability to address customer expectations in an appropriate manner

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary to effectively convey ideas
  • Fluency in English; other languages are a plus
  • Legally authorized to work in the USA, without sponsorship
  • Occasional weekends and off hours required
  • Occasional overnight and air travel required
