Radio Frequency Engineer

As a Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer, you will be part of a team applying Nikola’s RF-to-DC wireless power technology to solve real-world problems. Through collaboration with both team members and customers, your work will help improve a wide range of consumer and industrial products by incorporating wireless power capability. RF Engineer will report to the VP of Engineering and work closely with engineers and technicians on customer-focused projects and internal developments. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Designing and testing advanced wireless power solutions for IoT and other applications
  • Design definition, documentation, schematic capture, BOM, and layout of low cost designs, working under tight schedules
  • Designing antennas and microwave circuits including combiners, filters, matching networks and transmission lines
  • Tuning and measuring antennas and microwave circuits and systems
  • Characterizing various materials for novel RF designs
  • Optimizing current microwave designs/systems for better performance and cost reduction


RF Engineer at Nikola Labs should have the following qualifications:

  • MS Electrical Engineering with emphasis on antennas and RF circuits
  • 5+ years of experience in the RF field – design, testing and production
  • Complete knowledge of working with ANSYS HFSS and Keysight ADS
  • Experience using Altium to create PCB layouts for circuits and antennas
  • Experience designing high-volume commercial Wi-Fi & Bluetooth solutions, RF oscillators and amplifiers, and antennas is a plus
  • Experience using standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven teamwork skills. Prior experience in startup environment a plus
  • Fluency in English; other languages are a plus
  • Ability to work in US
